In her younger years she was a member of Grace Methodist Church in Stockton, CA. She also taught Sunday School while stationed with her husband in Fairbanks, Alaska.
Preceded in death by Husband Madison Dillard Gardner on March 11, 1989, Mother and father, sister, Clara Forsythe, 2 brothers David and Albert Forsythe and son in law Gerald L. Downs
She is survived by 2 daughters, Barbara E. Downs of Milan, IL and Dolores Reeder of Salinas, CA, 3 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.
She was a devoted Army wife during her husbands 23 year Army career. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren and she helped raise her great grandchildren from babies. She also enjoyed making sequin calendars for her family and working on her puzzle books and she enjoyed cooking and making up new recipes. She never met a stranger.
