Born to Henry and Grace Buzanowicz. She was predeceased by her first husband, Gary K. Scheil. She was survived by her son Ian Scheil, parents and second husband, Francis "Bucky" Gelo, along with several nieces, nephews, sisters and in laws. Theresa, better known as "Terry", was best known for her longtime work with the Rochester Association of Performing Arts (RAPA) as a dancer, choreographer, teacher, director, and business manager from the organization's infancy. She had the opportunity to train and work with many of the most well known performers from Rochester in the broadway theater circuit. Theresa taught at Eastridge High School as part of the performing arts program run by RAPA in the 1990s. In addition, Terry was a trained Hawaiian dancer who studied under the late Camielle Mosher.
At other points, Theresa spent some time as a waitress at Jim's Clock restaurant in the culver/merchants business area, a supervisor at Hill Haven Nursing Home Food Services, and a business manager at St. Andrew/Annunciation parish, and St. Marianne Cope parish.
Later in life, Theresa became an award winning Belly Dancer alongside Hypnotic, a Rochester area Belly Dancing troupe led by Rebecca Morningstar (Carter) (Former Belly Dancer of the Year in Western New York).
