Billie graduated as valedictorian from Vidor High School in 1940. She married the love of her life, Fred Bruce, on March 11, 1941 in Beaumont, Texas. After being a housewife for many years, she went on to get her Bachelor's Degree in education from Angelo State University in 1970, and then received her Master's Degree in 1975, and taught English for several years.
Billie was very active in, and a lifetime member of, the First United Methodist Church. A few of her pastimes included gardening and cooking, but her main goal in life was to take care of her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband, five siblings, and two granddaughters. She is survived by three children, her daughter, two sons, two grandsons, and a host of other relatives and friends.
