John H. Pifer, Blind 20 Years, Dies at 81

John H. Pifer, a life-long resident of the Nineteenth Ward, died Thursday, aged 81 years, at his home, 285 Champlain Street.

Mr. Pifer was connected with the Woodbury woodworking establishment, until blindness caused him to retire 20 years ago.He was one of the oldest members of SS. Peter and Paul’s Church and Sabbath School.

Funeral services will be conducted Monday morning at the home at 8:30 o’clock and at SS. Peter and Paul’s Church at 9 o’clock, followed by burial in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.

Mr. Pifer leaves his wife, Mrs. Laura Pifer; a son, George H. Pifer; three daughters, Mrs. Emma Luchsinger, Mrs. Elizabeth McCarthy and Clara A. Pifer; a sister, Carrie Pifer; 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, all of Rochester.
