Rose, Dorothy Jean (Dot), cherished mother of Steve, victoriously joined the Lord and her late husband, Ben, early Saturday morning, July 9, 2022. Preceded in death by husband, Ben; parents, Reverend John Walker and Vontella Kitts; infant brother, John Walker Kitts, Jr.; brother, Glenn Kitts; Great-Grandson, Devon Oakley; nephews Stacey Kitts and Wally Kitts, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Survivors include: Beloved son, Steve, and wife, Terri; Granddaughter, Stephanie Bunch and husband, Randy; Grandson, Stephen Rose II and wife, Rachel; Great-Grandchildren Alexus Oakley, Mikey Oakley, Makayla Rose, and Raven Rose; Great-Great-Grandchildren Madilyn Mashburn, Matthew Mashburn, and Aleigha (Lee-Lee) Oakley. Dot was a member of Beaver Dam Baptist Church for 52 years, and a member of the Powell Chapter 335 of Eastern Star. She was well-known in the Halls community where she drove a school bus for 20 years, and owned/operated a Ladies Boutique, Dot's Body Shop. She loved the children who rode her bus and claimed them as "my kids" until her death. The story is told that she gave away more than she sold in her boutique and those of you who knew her are certain it's true. Dot was fond of cooking, especially her famous peanut butter fudge, and always made enough to share with friends, family, and the mailman. Cooking is one of many gifts for which Dot will be remembered. As Steve often says, "Nobody can match my momma's cooking. She's the best cook ever." Dot lived a life full of love and faith and had a very giving heart. She made preparations for her eternal life at Texas Valley Baptist Church when she was 14, accepting Jesus as her Savior. Her bags have been packed since then and her spirit now flies with the angels to watch over the ones left behind. She wants everyone to be saved and was never shy about asking if you know the Lord. Do you? Knowing and accepting the Lord as your Savior is the best decision you could ever make. Dot would tell you, without hesitation, "you need to know the Lord, we ALL need the Lord." Many friends have cherished memories of time with Dot, including: "adopted" sons and daughters – Bruce Clevenger, Jan Farrington, Randy Fletcher, Evelyn Keech, Diane Mealer, and Larry Reeves; cherished friend and high-school classmate, Mary Secrist, who called weekly to visit; former daughter-in-law, JoAnn Everett; friends in her Homemaker Sunday School class; and surviving members of her childhood pack, The Inskip Gang, who are Peggy Cooper, Wanda Farmer, Marion Holyfield, and Violet Overton. Love and gratitude to Dot's care giver, Nancy Hurst, who is an answer to our prayers and is now considered family, and to Dot's kind and cheerful Amedisys nurse, Dee Rice, who brought joy as she assessed Dot's level of sassiness. We are grateful to each of you, as well as the many friends not listed by name. As Dot would say, "Love you more" and "See you when." Visitation will be held Thursday, July 14 at Beaver Dam Baptist Church from 5:00-7:00pm with a service to follow at 7:00pm, Dr. Alan Price officiating. Family and friends will meet Friday, July 15 at 10:45 am at Highland Memorial for a for a 11:00am graveside service. Condolences may be left at www.mynattfh.com.
