John Robert Baugh, Sr., 95, of North Little Rock passed away on December 9th at the Ft. Roots Veterans Medical Center.
Born in Kensett, Arkansas to parents Bruce and Gertrude Crow.
John joined the U. S. Navy in 1941 - 1943, serving on the destroyer U. S. S. Calhoun as a Radar/Sonar technician during the epic battle of Guadalcanal. After leaving the Navy, John and Jean came together on a dance floor and danced around each other for 67 happy years.
John drove vehicle transport between Detroit and various southern states for many years until an unfortunate accident ended that career. He was a fighter and did not let anything slow him down. John loved nothing better than to tear apart broken motors and bring them back to life; always living by his motto “It is not what you pay for something, it is what it is worth”.
John is preceded in death by his parents, brother Vernon and sister Margaret, nephew Joe Dalton, Sr., loving wife, Jean Baugh and his son, John R. Baugh, Jr.
He is survived by his grandchildren, Julia R. Baugh and John E. Baugh, great grandson Jacob Baugh, niece Judy (Robert) Dalton Stone and his great nephews Joe Dalton, Jr. and Luke Stone along with the dedicated ladies and gentlemen at Ft. Roots V. A.
Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, December 16th at Griffin Leggett Rest Hills Funeral Home, 7724 Landers Rd., North Little Rock, AR
