Emily N. Nelson, 65, of Orient, died December15, 2016, in Columbus. She was born on October 14, 1951, in Columbus, the daughter of Thomas and Clara (Frey) Neely. She taught in the Westfall Local Schools and was retired from there after 35 years of dedicated service to the children of that community. She was active in class plays and musicals and student activities. She was a member and elder of the First Presbyterian Church in Grove City, graduate of Ohio University, member of Pickaway County Community Foundation Board, Pickaway County Library Board, Derby Junior Garden Club and Westfall Education Foundation. Past 4H advisor and softball coach. She was an avid supporter of Westfall Athletics and Band activities; she loved watching her former students and was a strong supporter of Art Education.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, James Stanford, brother-in-law, William Van Voorhis, niece; Trena Van Voorhis, and mother and father-in-law, Ed and Patty Nelson.

She is survived by her husband, Stephen Nelson; sons, Bill and Brian Nelson; sister, Amelia Van Voorhis; aunt; Mary Sinnett, sister-in-law, Elizabeth Stanford; brother and sisters-in-law, Randy Nelson, Chris (Steve) Williams and Cathy Nelson; special cousins, nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, December 20, 2016, with Rev. Robert Tolar officiating.

Burial will be in Forest Cemetery. Friends may call 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Westfall Education Foundation, 19463 Pherson Pike, Williamsport, Ohio, 43164.
