"Carrie Straka Reed, 48, passed into eternal life on Dec. 6, 2016. She was born on Jan. 22, 1968, in Hayward, Calif., to Sally Straka and Paul Gordon Straka. She was the loving wife of Mark Reed; mother of Spencer Reed; and sister of Kim Wellman.
Carrie’s selflessness and kindness resonated through every person she met, and the empty hole left by her absence will be felt forever. From her heartfelt hugs and warm smile, to an infectious laughter that commanded the room and let everyone know that she was here. As a food service worker at Pleasant Grove Middle School, she was a beacon of light and a kind face to every child who passed through because, in her own words, “You never know what they have been through and you might be the only one that listens and smiles at them today.” In the 12 years she served the school she graciously touched many hearts, leading by example for both her crew and all of the students she cared so deeply for.
Carrie will truly live on in the happiness and goodness she spread during her time here on this Earth. A celebration of her life will be taking place on Monday, Dec. 19 at 4 p.m. at Lakehills Convenant Church, 7000 Rossmore Lane in El Dorado Hills, Calif."
