Veronica Batson D’Angelo, 42, of Waynesburg, PA, formerly of Fairview, WV passed away Wednesday, December 14, 2016, at her residence. Veronica was born Nov. 18, 1974 in Fairmont, WV, daughter of Eugene and Jeanette (Stalnaker) Whipkey of Fairview.

Veronica was a graduate of North Marion High School. She was the lead singer and percussionist for the Smokin’ Gun Band and was known as the “Little Drummer Girl”. She was president of the Mason Dixon Off-Road Jeep Club.

Veronica promoted breast cancer awareness throughout Western Pennsylvania. In doing so, she operated a jeep known as the “Pink Beast” to help bring attention to her cause.

Veronica was an avid equestrian, participating in barrel racing. In her younger days, she was a drag racing enthusiast. She enjoyed hunting, fishing, and playing pool.

Veronica’s presence lightened a room. She was a very beautiful woman, inside and out, a mother, daughter, and best friend to those close to her. She was always in the public eye, and was well known for her many wonderful talents. Veronica was a free spirit; she lived her life the way she chose, and nobody could tell her otherwise. She did this in ways most could only dream to.

In addition to her parents, she was survived by her husband, Gary D’Angelo of Waynesburg, PA; her son, Austin Kiger of Blacksville, WV; a brother, Paul Batson and wife Marcia of McCurdysville Pike; a sister, Welcome Batson of Winchester, VA; her Mother-In-Law, Mary D’Angelo, of McDonald, PA; a nephew, Forrest Stiles; and two nieces, Hunter and Autumn Batson.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Harry and Esther Stalnaker; her paternal grandparents, Eugene and Bertha Whipkey; and her father-in-law, Ben D’Angelo.

Friends and Family may call at Domico Funeral Home Curry Chapel, 100 Grant Street Fairview, WV 26570 Sunday from 11:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Monday from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. in the funeral home with Pastor Randy Vincent officiating.
