James K. "Ken" Hobson, 79, of Atlanta, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 11, 2016, at St. Vincent Mercy Hospital in Elwood.
Ken was the son of Walter and Lydia (Hogue) Hobson born on April 1, 1937, in Mingo Junction, Ohio.
On June 22, 1957, he married the love of his life, Lois (Duffey) Hobson. Ken retired as a supervisor from Fisher Guide Corp. in Anderson. After retirement Ken worked for Wyant Ford and Hare Chevrolet.
He enjoyed vacation time and traveling with family and friends, yearly trips to Dale Hollow, boating and skiing with grandkids and great-grandkids, and hunting. He was handy and enjoyed working on cars and constructing porches, additions to homes, and furniture. Ken was a faithful and involved member of the True Apostolic Church in Pendleton.
Ken is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Lois (Duffey) Hobson of Atlanta, Ind.; two daughters, Sherry (Andy) Pace of Atlanta, Ind., and Darlene (David) Cohron of Kokomo; grandchildren, James Pace of Atlanta, Ind., Keith Pace of Effingham, Ill., Rebecca Pace of Atlanta, Ind., and Gerald Cohron of Valparaiso; great-grandchildren, Emry, Silas, Peyton, Parker and Paisley Pace, Sophia, Liam and Arya Cohron; three sisters, Margaret Soptelean of Scio, Ohio, Jean Cosma of Minerva, Ohio, and Jane Gowen of Alliance, Ohio; brother, Robert Hobson of Jewett, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.
Ken was preceded in death by his father, Walter A. Hobson; mother, Lydia Hobson; and brothers, Alfred, Arthur, Eugene, Thomas, Joseph, and Walter Hobson.
Services celebrating Ken's life will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Connection Point in Anderson, 2700 W. 38th St., with Pastor Phil Hodges of the True Apostolic Church officiating. Burial will follow in the Elwood Cemetery.
Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Dunnichay Funeral Home in Elwood.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the True Apostolic Church of Pendleton.
