Born in the community of Hudsonia which is near the present day community of Grange in Jefferson County, Georgia. They where Postmasters since before the unconstitutional War of Northern Aggression. Hudsonia was burned by yankee troups and never recovered.

Charles Cain Hudson, Sr. died in Glendale Hospital, Palatka, Putnam County, FL of Acute Cerebral Hemorrhage at 87 years of age. His Florida Death Certificate says he was a "Retired Salesman". Talk about your understatements!! CC Sr. was definately a 'mover and shaker'.

1890: CC Sr. moves to Jacksonville and works for Baker & Holmes as a Traveling Salesman. He is 17 years old. He is one of the first in Florida to use a motorized vehicle in his

1917-1918: CC Sr. registered to serve in the military during WORLDWAR I. He did not have to serve.

1920-1935: By this time, Charles Sr. was President of the Palatka Wholesale Grocers' Association on September 25, 1920. The Vice-President was A. R. Haile.

1936-1945: CC Sr. was President and General Manager of the DAVIS MFG. CO., INC., 115 West Jackson Avenue, Knoxville, TN. Davis Mfg. Co. was a drug manufacturer and/or distributor. His residence is listed as being "1408 Laurel Avenue, Knoxville, TN". He was 63 years old at the time of his Social Security Application.

1946: CC Sr. retires from Davis Mfg. Co. and returns to Florida. He is elected Mayor of Interlachen, President of the Town Council and starts the Interlachen Baptist Church.

Johnson-Davis Funeral Home in Palatka handled the services. He is listed as living at 412 North 4th Street, Palatka, FL.

Charles Cain Hudson, Sr. and 1st wife Carrie Edwards are my husband's paternal great grandparents.

Funeral services for Charles Cain Hudson, Sr. (1873-1961), 87, who died in a Palatka hospital last evening will be held at 10 a.m. Friday in the Johnson-Davis Chapel with Rev. W. F. Oddy officiating. Burial will be in West View Cemetery.
Hudson was born Nov. 30, 1873 in Jefferson County, Ga., and first came to Florida in 1890 to represent the Baker and Holmes Co., being the first salesman in Floride to travel by automobile. He founded the Hudson Grocery Co. in Palatka and later moved to Knoxville, Tenn, where he was president and general manager of the Davis Mfg. Co. and a national officer of the Drug Manufacturers Association. He moved to Interlachen in 1946 and became mayor and president of the Town Council and founded the Interlachen Baptist Church.
Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Ethel Vance Holcomb Hudson of Palatka; a son, Charles Cain Hudson, Jr. of Huston, Texas; four daughters, Mrs. R. Peck of Jacksonville, Mrs. W.L. Todd of Hawaii, Mrs. W. B. Boulineaux of Tampa and Mrs. Josephine Holcomb Phillips of Tavernier; a sister, Miss Sarah Frances Elizabeth Hudson of Montgomery, Ala.; a brother, Furman Hudson of Montgomery; a nephew, John H. Holcombe of Birmingham,Ala.; three nieces, Mrs. Harriette Tavel of Palatka, Mrs. Walter Knight of Jacksonville and Mrs. Evelyn Graham of St. Augustine; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
