James H. Diederichs

James (Jim) Diederichs was born in Moorhead, Minnesota on December 30, 1926 to John and Theresa Diederichs. He passed away peacefully on December 7, 2016. Jim is survived by his wife Joanne, whom he adored for 68 years, his daughters Sue Albright of Arlington and Polly Sirokman of Kirkland and his sons Steve of Kirkland and Dan of Port Ludlow and his 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. He was proud of his large family and his many friends and he will be greatly missed by all.

He moved to Seattle in 1944 and graduated from O'Dea high school. He then enlisted into the Navy and was preparing to fight in World War II (the war ended before he got deployed). Before and after the war he worked at Pacific Northwest Bell and enjoyed a robust 39 year career before retiring.

He enjoyed trailer traveling with Joanne around the United States, fishing, wood working, his computer and old western sitcoms. He also volunteered with Habitat for Humanity while in Sequim Washington, where he and Joanne lived for 21 years. They moved to Kirkland for better health care two years ago.

There will be a Catholic Mass, reception and burial on Friday December 16th. The Mass and reception will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church in Kirkland starting at 10am. The burial service at Holyrood Cemetery in Shoreline will immediately follow the reception.

In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorials can be donated to the American Heart Association.
