McGOWAN, DONALD A.
88, of Narragansett, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 10, 2016 at South County Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Celina A. Pereira McGowan for 48 years. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late William and Edith (Bosworth) McGowan.
Donald graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School, where he was a member of the football team. He went on to serve in the US Navy during WWII. Donald was self-employed as a financial analyst for many years before his retirement. He was also an avid golfer, and loved to race stock cars and cook the most delicious entrees.
He is the father of the late Malini A. McGowan. Besides his wife, he is survived by his loving daughter Meena M. McGowan. He is the brother to the late William McGowan, Ruth Kennedy and Muriel McGowan.
Funeral from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory- SOUTH COUNTY CHAPEL, 1111 Boston Neck Rd. (Rt. 1A) Narragansett on Thursday at 9:15 am. Burial will follow in RI Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter. VISITING HOURS will be held on Wednesday night from 4:30 – 7:30 pm.
