He was born on March 28, 1925, in Anderson, and resided most of his life in Alexandria.
Billy graduated from Anderson High School, and he served his country in the Navy during World War II.
He retired from Marsh Supermarkets after 30 years of service, and then from St. John's Health Systems after 10 years of service.
He was a volunteer fireman and EMT for Richland Township for more than 25 years, where he was Indiana's EMT of the year at 80 years of age. He taught EMT classes and was a fire investigator. He was also president and vice president of Richland Township Fire Department during his career there. He was a member of the Anderson Corvette Club, and owned eight different Corvettes. He adored his pets, and his family.
Billy is survived by his loving daughter, Alicia (Marc) Simmons of Alexandria; grandson, Mickey (Amanda) Foley of Anderson; granddaughter, Rachel (Tim) Friend of Alexandria; great-grandson, Kyle Shirley; great-grandson, Ethan Friend; four-legged companion, Bronson; sisters, Doris Mathews of Anderson, and Pat Mills of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; and various nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Imogene Gregory; mother, Edna Goodwin; father, Carey Gregory; and his brothers.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at Loose Funeral Homes & Crematory, 200 W. 53rd St., Anderson.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home with his grandson, Pastor Mickey Foley officiating. Burial will take place in Gravel Lawn Cemetery, Fortville, with military funeral rites performed by the United States Navy.
