James “Jim” Carter Johnson, 71, Kokomo, passed away December 11, 2016 at his home. He was born September 23, 1945 in Glasgow, Montana to the late Carter Vincent and Marguerite Fern (Kalkbrenner) Johnson.

A graduate of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln with Bachelor of Science degrees in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in Vietnam from 1969 until 1971. Jim was employed with Delphi Delco Electronics from 1983 until his retirement in 2010.

A member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, Jim will be remembered as a generous man, often going out of his way to help those in need. He enjoyed his motorcycle, carpentry, and tending to his vegetable garden.

Survived by his children, Michelle (Justin) Johnson Jones and David (Cristina) Johnson; grandchildren, Anna Jones and Claire Johnson; siblings, Elaine (James) Feeney, Mary (Martin) Smith, Thomas (Vicki) Johnson and Katherine (Timothy) Rasinski; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by his parents and brothers Bernard Robert “Bob” Johnson and Richard Paul Johnson.

A Mass of Christian Burial December 16, 2016 at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 3155 South – 200 West, Kokomo, with Rev. Fr. Matthew Arbuckle the celebrant. Committal services will be held in Nebraska at a later date. Friends may visit with the family from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home & Crematory, 1315 West Lincoln Road, where the Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m.
