John M. Jackson, a well known resident of this county, passed away at the City hospital in St. Paul on Sunday Oct. 1, 1916 after a short illness with pneumonia.
Mr. Jackson was returning from a visit with his daughter, Mrs. Louis LaBresh at Jacobson, Minn. when he was taken ill and was obliged to enter a hospital at St. Paul. The remains
were brought to Wabasha and the funeral was held at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon from the home of his daughter, Mrs. Richard Krull. Rev. W. A. Pringle officiated at the services.
Interment was made in Riverview cemetery.
John M. Jackson was born at Lancashire, England, August 12, 1848. He emigrated to America in 1855, and spent some time in Massachusetts. He came to Wabasha County,
Minn. and engaged in farming in Greenfield and continued in this up to a few years ago. For a number of years he operated a ferry across the river to Alma.
His marriage to Jane L. Griffis took place at Wabasha March 29, 1869. The widow and the following sons and daughters survive Sam Jackson and Mrs. Louis LaBresh of Jacobson, Minn. Mrs. August Schurhammer of Kellogg, Mrs. Christ Schurhammer and John Jackson of Greenfield and Mrs. Richard Krull of Wabasha. One daughter Bertie Jackson is dead.
