Robert Caramico, a film and TV cinematographer, died Oct. 18 of pancreatic cancer at his home in Canyon Country. He was 65.
Caramico got his initial photography training as a combat cameraman while serving in the U.S. Marines from 1949-55. He then served for eight months as an INS news cameraman in Israel.
From 1956-64, Caramico worked in stop-motion, special effects photography, animation, optical effects and live commercials.
Beginning in 1964, Caramico worked as a director of photography on numerous features, TV shows and miniseries. His TV credits include “Falcon Crest” (1990), “Dallas” (1984) and “The Waltons” (1980).
Among his film credits are “Slumber Party ’57” (1976), “The Doberman Gang” (1972) and “Journey to Nowhere” (1971).
He is survived by his wife, a son and one grandson.
