Mary Kathryn (Schumacher) Sheridan, age 90, of Kilkenny, died on Monday, December 12, 2016 at Mala Strana Health Care in New Prague.

Mary was born on November 17, 1926 in Derrynane Township in Le Sueur County to N.J. and Helen (Sullivan) Schumacher. Mary attended country grade school and graduated from McKinley High School in Le Center in 1945.

She then worked in Minneapolis for eight years until she married Jim (PL) Sheridan on November 7, 1953. They raised four children in Kilkenny.

Mary was active in St. Canice Church where she held many offices in the Rosary Society, Finance Committee and mission sewing. She belonged to the Kilkenny American Legion Auxiliary since 1953, the Le Sueur County Rural Mail Carriers Auxiliary since 1954; she was a charter member of the Kilkenny VFW Auxiliary and The Kilkenny Community and Sportsman’s Club. She held offices in all these organizations for many years. Mary enjoyed sewing, a wee bit of gardening and traveling.

Mary is survived by her son, Philip and Patti (Korbel) Sheridan of Montgomery; grandchildren, Jessica and Philip Sheridan of Montgomery; sister, Teresa (Norb) Krenik of Le Center; and life-long friend Videll Mueller.

Mary is preceded in death by husband, Jim Sheridan; daughters, Julie and Michele; son, Patrick; brothers, Vincent Schumacher, and Gene (Henrietta) Schumacher; and sister-in-law, Shirley Sheridan Patten.

Visitation will be held on Friday, December 16, 2016 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with rosary at 7:30 p.m. at the Le Center Funeral Home in Le Center. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, December 17, 2016 at 11 a.m. at St. Canice Church in Kilkenny with visitation one hour prior at the church. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery in Kilkenny.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Canice Church in Kilkenny or to a charity of donors’ choice.
