Mrs. Cheryl H. Simmons, the daughter of the late Carl “Blue” Coltrane and Fleecy Marie “Sis” Landfair was born May 16, 1950 in Randolph County. She was raised by her grandparents, the late Mr. Barney and Rev. Lelar Trogdon. She attended Central High School and was a life long, faithful member of The Church of God of Prophecy, Cross Street (now known as Kingdom Life Community Church). Cheryl was married to the late Charles Simmons. She loved her family, adored her grandchildren and was dedicated to her church family. A quiet and compassionate person, she also enjoyedtraveling. Her husband, Charles Simmons, and parents predeceased her. She leaves to cherish memories: one daughter, Kimberly (Adam) McGhee of Asheboro; two sons, Charles “Chuckie” Simmons of High Point and Kerick “Keith” (Karen) Simmons of Asheboro; siblings, Carol Headen, Michele (Stanley) Corne, Carl (Lisa) Headen, Calvin Harris, Phyllis Thompson, Jerome (Jacquelyn) Waddell, Vanessa Sparks, Myra (Clinton) Yancey, Richard (Lisa) Coltrane, and James Coltrane. Cheryl’s 16 great children, 17 great grandchildren and many other relatives and friends will truly miss her.
