Funeral services for Mrs. Jo will be held on Thursday, December 15, 2016 at 3:00 PM at Friendship United Methodist Church with Rev. Garth Duke-Barton officiating. Interment will follow in Friendship Cemetery with Billy Crosby, Dr. C.O. Walker, Mitchel Sheffield, Steve Brock, Billy Williams, and James Moody serving as active casketbearers. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at 2:00 PM at the church.
Mrs. Adams was born August 14, 1917 in Donalsonville, GA to the now late Otho and Scottie Sue Crowder Benton. After attending college in Atlanta, she went to work with Civil Service. While employed she lived in France and Germany. She later moved back to Atlanta and married T.C. Adams. Together they owned and operated a Dairy Queen franchise. After the death of her husband, she moved to Donalsonville in 1980 and began working at the Donalsonville Hospital as the human resource director until 2013. In 2010, "Miss Jo" was recognized as one of the states "Hospital Heroes" by the Georgia Hospital Association. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the American Cancer Society and the Donalsonville Woman's Club.
She leaves to cherish her memory, a nephew, Dr. Don Howard (Misty) of Savannah, GA; two great nieces, Staci Howard Cannon and Ragan Howard Lee; as well as her beloved staff of caregivers, Nancy Glisson, Peggy Rice, Lounona Conner, and Joette Bauman.
Mrs. Adams was preceded in death by her parents, Otho and Scottie Sue Crowder Benton; a brother, Mills Benton; and four sisters, Rebecca Benton, Louise Benton White, Annie Howard Reynolds, and Nancy Crowder Benton.
