Born Jan. 17, 1926, she was a daughter of the late Joseph J. Jones and Ella Kimmel Jones, Minersville.
Arlene was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Thomas P. Murphy; loving parents, Joseph and Ella; sisters, Elizabeth Jazcalt, Blanche Jackson and Grace Tobin; brother, Robert Jones.
Arlene is survived by her children, Thomas, and Terrance (Barbara Menning Murphy); granddaughters, Erin, Tara and Brooke Murphy; great-granddaughter, Abby Dudash; brother, William Jones (Carol Reed); nieces and nephews; many good friends.
Arlene enjoyed family, friends, good food and socializing. She was an avid Philadelphia sports fan and enjoyed watching the Phillies and the Eagles.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Teresa of Calcutta, Mahanoy City, followed by burial in St. Canicus Cemetery, Mahanoy City. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church. Memorial gifts may be made in Arlene's name to the Hometown Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. James P. Haughney Funeral Home, Mahanoy City, has been entrusted with the arrangements.
