Stanley R. Armentrout, 88, of Rittman, went home to be with his Lord on Sunday, December 11, 2016 following a courageous battle with leukemia and lymphoma.

He was born May 19, 1928 in Osceola, WV to the late Stanley J. and Rosa (Lantz) Armentrout and lived most of his life in Rittman.

Stanley married Audrey Vance on June 5, 1948 in Oakland, MD. She preceded him in death January 5, 2015.

He attended Glady and Elkins schools in West Virginia and enlisted in the U.S. Army his senior year of high school. He served as a Sergeant in occupied Japan, having received the WWII Victory Medal and the Army of Occupation Medal Japan.

Stanley retired from the former Packaging Corporation of America in 1985 after 32 years of service. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Rittman where he once served as a Sunday School Teacher, Trustee and bus driver for many years.

Surviving are sons; daughter; grandchildren; great grandchildren sisterand many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; beloved wife of 66 years; step-father, Chester “Chuck” Ogden, son, Sgt. Stanley W. Armentrout; great granddaughter, Hope Armentrout; brothers, Harry and Charles “Bill” Armentrout; and sisters, Hallie Pritt-Bryant, Rosalie Phillips and Betty Hanna.

Services will be held Wednesday, December 14, 2016 at 11:30 a.m. at Auble-Gillman Funeral Home, 360 W. Sunset Dr., Rittman with Pastor Mike Lamar officiating. Burial will follow at Rittman Cemetery.

Friends may call from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
