NILES -Russell Stephens Jr., 89, passed away on Monday, December 12, 2016 at Brentwood of Niles.

Russell was born on July 31, 1927 to Russell Stephens and Geneva Schoonover in Middletown, OH. Russell was raised by his grandmother, Sarah Stephens, in DuQuoin, IL.

On September 9, 1950 he married Fleta M. Coffel. She preceded him in death on October 22, 2004.

Russell is survived by his five children, David (Kerry) of South Bend, Sherry Zanotti (Craig Randall) of Elkhart, Mikel (Faye) of Osceola, Timmy (Stacy) of Mishawaka and Dru Ellen Davis (Mark) of Linwood, NC.

Russell is also survived by 11 grandchildren, Jeff Stephens, Jim Stephens, Sara Fine, Dana Marcotte, Ryan Zanotti, Cody Stephens, Mindy Lewis, Cory Stephens, Ian Davis, Alekzander Davis and Mia Davis. He is also survived by 17 great grandchildren.

Russell proudly served his Country in the Navy during WW II in the Philippines, earning the Victory Medal, American Area Campaign Medal and the Asiatic Pacific Area Campaign Medal.

Russell worked in the meat packing industry at Blue Bell Packing Co., DuQuoin, IL; Dick and Company, South Bend, IN and also served as a meat insp0ector for the State of Indiana.

Russell will be remembered for the love he gave to everyone he met.

The family would like to extend their thanks to the entire staff of Brentwood at Niles for the love and compassion you gave, not only to Russell, but our entire family.

Visitation will be n Wednesday, December 14 from 3 to 7 p.m. with Military Rites at 7 p.m. in Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka, IN.

The family requests, in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation of America, 322 Eighth Ave., 7th fl., New York, N.Y. 10001.
