Her husband lost an affectionate and loving wife; her children, a kind and indulgent mother. May God’s grace be sufficient for them in their bereavement.
Lura Kay was born July 10, 1936, the eldest daughter of Milo Rue and Mary Annabelle Burton Burnell. Kay married Lawrence E. Coffey in 1955. They were blessed with three children; Pamela Sue (Mark) Farley of Indianapolis, IN, Lisa Kay Marking of Omaha, NE, and Timothy Milo (Joy) Coffey of Warrensburg, MO. Second marriage was to James E. Ference in 1976. He preceded her in death in 1994. Third marriage was to Joseph M. Petrucha in 2001.
Kay is survived by her husband Joe, three children, sister Joy (Bill) Burris of Oreana, three stepchildren Kris Gillespie (Steve) of Denver, Co., Kim (Joe) Fair of Shelbyville, and Mark Petrucha of Assumption, seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, six step-grandchildren, and five step-great-great-grandchildren.
Kay was preceded in death by her parents and sister Judith Ann Edmiston.
Kay left many sore hearts behind to which dear memories of her will cling all loving and green like tendrils of the ivy to the impassive rock and will not lose their hold while the rock lasts or while the heart remembers to beat and garnish its treasures.
In her death there is removed from her circle of warm friends one of the sweetest, womanly characters that ever come to bless the home of man. Of the gentlest spirit, kindly sympathetic, her death makes a vacancy in her circle of friends that will never be filled.
Memorial visitation to celebrate Kay’s life will be Saturday, November 18, 2017 in the Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home at 11:00 AM. Burial at a later date will be with her parents in Macon County Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the Decatur Genealogy Society.
The family of Lura Kay Petrucha is being served by the Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home, 2091 N. Oakland Ave. Decatur, IL. Please view the online obituary, send condolences, and share memories at www.gracelandfairlawn.com.
