Mr. Gaylen G. Guthrie, 76, of Hahira, Georgia, passed away Sunday December 11, 2016 at his home. He was born in Brooks County on January 11, 1940 to his late parents, Vance and Wilna Sharpe Guthrie. Mr. Guthrie was a Christian and was a retired service technician for Barfield Gas and was also retired from his own machinery maintenance company.
Mr. Guthrie leaves behind two daughters and sons-in-law: Jennifer and Marlin Hobby of Hahira and Sherry and Greg Alexander of Panama City Beach, Florida; five grandchildren: Laken Stalvey, Seth Weldon, Ty Weldon, Dylan Alexander and Jacob Alexander; a step-granddaughter, Adrienne "Chic" Hobby; two great-grandchildren: Lilly Weldon and Kannon Brantley; a sister, Phyllis G. Walker of Barney, Georgia; and two nieces: Daphne Walker and Deirdre Stearman. Numerous great-nieces, great-nephews, and other extended family also survive.
A graveside funeral service was held for Mr. Guthrie on Tuesday December 13, 2016 at 2:00 PM at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens in Adel, Georgia with Rev. Thomas Parrish officiating.
