In 1964 Gary married Gayle Sutton in Clark, SD., they are parents of five children.
After cutting hair in Onida for a year, the family moved to Pierre where Gary continued to barber, after two years they returned to Onida when Gary purchased “Gary’s Barber Shop and Package Liquor” where he started his long career as a true entrepreneur. G
In 1971 he purchased the Ford dealership in Onida hard work along with a friendly and honest personality carried him to a successful 30 year career in the automobile business
After Gary's retirement in 2000 from Chase Ford, Gary and Gayle moved to Ft. Pierre SD and built their dream home along the Missouri River. Unfortunately, they didn’t get to spend many years enjoying their new home together before Gayle passed away from Cancer in 2006.
Gary was a man of many hobbies, including racing cars, riding motorcycles, fishing, hunting, golfing, playing pickle ball and four wheeling through the Hills.
Gary is survived by his children,two brothers, and nine grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife Gayle Chase; daughter Stephanie Chase; parents Clarence and Vera Chase; sister and brother-in-law Koreen and Adolf Jonas; father-in-law Robert Sutton; niece Stacy Sutton, and special friend Lyla Tordsen-Schuetzle.
A memorial has been established in honor of Gary to be directed to local caring organizations.
