GRANGER - Ms. Shannon C. (Turner) Magezi, 34, passed away Monday following a tree removal work accident in Granger. Shannon was born May 6, 1976 in South Bend to Dawn Darlene (Place) Howard and Donald Edmond Turner. She graduated from Penn High Scholl in 1994. She had been a CDL Class B Commercial driver, formerly employed by the Penn Harris Madison School Corporation and Federal Express. She is survived by her mother and step-fathe, Dawn and Calvin H. Howard of Granger and fathe, Donald Turner of Pennington Gap, Virginia; two sons, William Harrison Magezi, age 13 and Cameron Michael Magezi, age 10, both of Granger; a brother, Shawn Turner of Granger; her maternal grandparents, Myron R. and Aleta Place of Mishawaka; her ex-husband, Herbert Megezi of Boston, MA; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. Shannon had volunteered as a Cub Scout Den Mother. She was "Aunt Shannon" to all the kids who knew her and was like a "Pied Piper" with them. People had a lot of trust in Shannon, especially with their children. Shannon was an avid angler, enjoying it with her children. She would light up a room with her presence. Shannon loved to laugh and was a "free spirit". Friends may call Friday from 1 to 3 p.m. in McGann Hay Funerals | Cremations | Gatherings, Granger Chapel, 13260 SR 23 (enter off of Cherry Rd.). A celebration of Shannon's life will follow at 3 p.m., with Pastor Paul Wallace, of Body of Christ Ministries, officiating. Instead of the originally planned cremation, the family has planned a "green burial" to follow at Porter Rae Cemetery in Potato Creek State Park. This is believed to be the first "green burial" in the Michiana area. Rather than sending flowers, the family has set up a trust fund at 1st Source Bank for the benefit of her boys. There will be envelops at the funeral home. To send condolences to the family or for directions log on to:www.McGannHay.com.
