Brenda Kay Rutherford-Kennedy, 71, of Iaeger, WV, died Saturday, December 10, 2016, at the Golden Harvest Long Term Care Unit in Welch, WV following a long illness. She was a homemaker and affiliated with the Church of God. She loved to cook, read and sew; she was a wonderful mother and grandmother.
Brenda was born January 17, 1945, in Garland, WV, a daughter of the late Charlie Elmer Rutherford (1912-1999) and Elsie Mae Rose-Rutherford (1927-2004). In addition to her parents Brenda was preceded in death by one brother, Donald Eugene Rutherford (Deceased) and one sister, Betty Jean Rutherford-Young (Deceased).
Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Archie Russell Kennedy, Sr. (1942-2019) whom she married on May 22, 1964 in Iaeger, McDowell County, WV, 1964, Page 77, Application Date: May 19, 1964); two sons, Wendell Kennedy and wife Regina Kennedy of Avondale, WV, and Archie R. Kennedy, Jr. and wife Patty Kennedy also of Avondale; three daughters, Patricia Kennedy-Nettles and husband Darrell Nettles of Lewisburg, WV, Veronica Kennedy of Iaeger, WV, Jennifer Kennedy and companion Russ Rasnick also of Iaeger, WV; eight grandchildren, Elsie Justice, Jessica Brant, Brenda King, Kendra Kennedy, Wendell Kennedy, Jr., Natasha Hill, David Mills and Amber Evans; three great grandchildren, Allissa Dawn King, Salvatore Edward Zimbro, and Addison Lanelle Brant; and one brother, Robert Thurman Rutherford of Mockesville, NC.
Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, December 14, 2016, at 1:00 with Reverend Johnny Akers officiating at the Chapel of Fanning Funeral Home in Iaeger, WV. Burial will follow in the Kennedy Cemetery at Trail Hollow near Iaeger, WV.
