In 1956 he moved to Maryland and began working as a maintenance worker at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland and the town of Aberdeen.
In 1968 he received Jesus as his Lord and savior at First Pentecostal Tabernacle Church, Elkton, Maryland under the leadership of Bishop Huey L Harris, Sr. and Mother Lou Ann Harris.
He later joined Helping Hands Ministries, Churchville, Maryland under Bishop Roger L. Tatuem.
