Richard is survived by his wife, Jane Carson Britt, who he married at Chowan College on July 20, 1975. He has two much loved daughters, Carson Britt Reeves (Matthew); and Ashley Britt Bryant (Dale); brothers Carlton Britt (Betty) and Sam Britt (Betty); grandchildren Henry, Caleb, and Rosalie Reeves, and Eli and Lucas Bryant; nephews and nieces Matthew (Gretchen), Blaine (Debbie), Courtney (Mark), Rob (Amy), Hunter (Lee), and Ann Carrington (Bryan); brother-in-law Dan Carson (Sandy); and numerous cousins and friends.
Those that truly knew Richard knew that he was a very caring, loving person that did his best to help others and to work with truthfulness and integrity. He cared for his partner and his "girls" at work and for his many friends.
A celebration of his life will be held in the fellowship hall of the Boykins Baptist Church, Friday, December 16 at 2:00 PM. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Richard's name to the American Heart Association or the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
