He was the son of John Wesley and Mary Ellen (Brown) Bowers. On Jun 2, 1950, he married Gloria J. Curl, who survives in Elida.
Also surviving are three sons: Don (Patty), West Jefferson, Bill (Vickie), Elida, and Gerry (Teresa), Hanover, IN; two daughters: Patti (Jim) Foster and Mary (Rick) Kirkendall, both Elida; and twelve grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Deceased are a granddaughter, Sarah Foster; five brothers: Thursey, John Wesley (Eva), Homer (Leota), Dale (Imogene) and Robert (Eloris) Bowers; and six sisters: Sylvia (John) Richardson, Thelma Bowers, Florence (Gerald Leatherman) Caywood, Helen (Chet) Zimmerman, Marjory (Claude) Page and Lois (Jim) Parlette.
A graduate of Shawnee High School, he retired from Westinghouse as a Manufacturing Engineer after 40 years. He enjoyed wood working and was an avid wood carver. He was a member of the Lima Wood Carvers and was a dedicated member of Lima Baptist Temple Church. He was a Godly man who loved telling stories, playing pranks and most of all loved spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Services will be at Lima Baptist Temple, with Pastor Gary Hohman officiating. Burial will follow in Hartford Cemetery.
