Name of Sarah's parents have not been proven; however, there are Burgess families in 1850 census of Gilmer Co, GA. Note there are NO families in 1840 or 1850 Gilmer census data with surname similar to Shayers/Shawyers. Enoch & Sarah Ray are listed in Gilmer Co census for years 1850 thru 1880. No legible tombstone found for Sarah Burgess Ray.
