Born February 9, 1923 in Keysville, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Charles P. & Mary M. (Byard) Koontz. Ethel was predeceased by her husband, J. Edgar Riley who died in 1992.
Ethel was a member of Elias Lutheran Church in Emmitsburg, Maryland. She enjoyed collecting antiques and going to antique markets. Ethel had worked in factories throughout her life in Littlestown, Taneytown and Gettysburg.
She is survived by her two daughters; Luxie R. Althoff and husband Eugene of New Oxford and Linda K. Luckenbaugh and husband David of Gettysburg, three grandchildren; Suzanne Ridinger, Sherrin Poland and Michael L. Riley, four great grandchildren; Tyler Riley, Kaylla Javor, Daryl Poland and Aimee Ridinger, a great grandson, Hayden Javor and a brother Kenneth Koontz of Emmitsburg. Ethel was predeceased by three brothers; Jack, Lloyd and William Koontz and five sisters; Ruth Swartz, Dorothy Preston, Anna Topper, Evelyn Manahan and Catherine Stahley.
Following Funeral Services with Pastor Jon Greeenstone, officiating, interment will be in the Evergreen Cemetery in Gettysburg.
