He graduated from Lee High School in Midland, Texas and graduated Magna Cum Laude from Texas A&M University. Steve worked for several years in the oil and gas business as a production and exploration geologist at Gulf, Monsanto, Anadarko, Patterson-Uti Drilling, and EE Partners.
He met his wife, Sharon K. Gibson, in Midland, Texas. They were married on November 20, 1982 at First Baptist Church Midland. Steve and Sharon had 2 children and traveled all across Texas and Oklahoma with job transfers. Sharon recently retired from ConocoPhillips. They celebrated their 34th wedding anniversary on November 20, 2016.
Steve had Myotonic Muscular Dystrophy. In spite of all his difficulties he was a quietly strong and loving person. Steve is survived by his wife of 34 years, two daughters, a grandson Trace, and a brother. He also was survived by many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Steve was preceded in death by his mother Hazel Hudson Gibson, his father Marvin A. Gibson and his sister Patricia G. Robbins.
