Carey Scott Carr of Overland Park, KS passed away at his home on Friday, December 2, 2016. He lived a full life, having achieved a multitude of professional and personal accomplishments. Carey was born in Kansas City, MO and graduated from Shawnee Mission North in 1976. His love of debate turned into a passion for a law career. He graduated from Washburn University with a Bachelor of Business Administration in 1980, and followed with a Juris Doctorate from the Washburn School of Law in 1982. Carey was always eager to learn and continued his law studies at the University of Miami earning a Master of Law degrees in Real Property, Land Development and Finance Law in 1988. He was licensed in numerous states to include Kansas and Nebraska and negotiated many oil related leases.

Always striving to be first, Carey even arrived three minutes earlier than his twin sister, Collette Turnbaugh on October 26th, 1958. Carey had a deep devotion to his numerous nieces and nephews. He was always the popular "Uncle Carey" and especially close to Nicole, Alex, Stephanie and Nathan spoiling them often. Carey enjoyed trout fishing and could be found on the banks of Roaring River on any opening day with his brother Doug. Carey was also a proud member of the Masonic Society where he dedicated much time to supporting the organization. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd Carr and Anita June Scott Long. He is survived by his siblings brother Doug (Donna) Carr, sister Collette (Vince) Turnbaugh and two half-brothers, Greg (Marti) Shuey and Phil (Janet) Shuey, and his many nieces and nephews, Nicole (Curtis) Webb, Erin (Tyler) Webb, Alex (Amy) Carr, Stephanie (Robbie) House and Nathan Carr as well as cousins Ted Cauger II of Arizona and Scott (Mina) Cauger of New York. We will miss his gentle spirit, passion for life and his never ending love for all animals. Visitation is Friday, Dec. 9th, 3-5pm with service to follow at McGilley & Hoge Chapel, 8024 Santa Fe Drive, Overland Park, KS. Condolences may be left online at www.mcgilleyhoge.com. (913) 642-3565.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations to be made to ASPCA of Greater Kansas City in Carey's name.
