Imogene Carter, 89, formerly of Polo, passed away peacefully in her sleep on December 10, 2016, at her daughter Beverly’s home in Cameron. Visitation begins at 12:30 pm and service at 1:30 pm, Tuesday, Dec. 13, at Polo Christian Church, Polo, MO. Burial will follow in Prairie Ridge Cemetery, Polo. Memorials are suggested to the church.
Imogene was born March 29, 1927 in Walnut Ridge, Arkansas, the daughter of LeRoy and Minnie Mae O’Kelley. She moved to Polo at age 16, was baptized at Polo Christian Church and graduated from Polo High School. She worked at Lake City Arsenal and at a shoe factory in Hamilton and was an in-home caregiver. Imogene was united in marriage to Doris Wendell Carter on October 17, 1946.
Along with her parents, Imogene was preceded in death by a sister and two brothers, and son, Mark Carter. Survivors include her husband of 70 years, Doris; daughters, Beverly Trayler and Glenda Lana (Richard); daughter-in-law, Teresa Carter; grandchildren, Shawn Harris, Stephanie Harris, Jimmie Gorham (Annie), Jason Lana, Rachel
Nichols (John); 10 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
