Robert V. Boaz, 89, of Olathe, Kansas, died on December 7, 2016. He was born on December 30, 1926 in Joplin, Missouri to William Vernon and Laura Boaz. He was the oldest of seven children. During the depression, the family travelled to find work, but returned to Joplin by the time he started grade school. He graduated from Missouri School of Mines in Rolla, Missouri with a degree in Civil Engineering in 1949. He worked at Ozark Engineering as a structural design engineer. He married Wilma Arnold on April 30, 1950. He built the family's first home, and later, built a larger home. He moved the family to North Kansas City to work as a design structural engineer for Builder's Steel. After retiring at age 56, he worked part time for H&R Block. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, two brothers and one grandson. He is survived by four children, nine grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, three sisters, and one brother. Funeral: 1:00 p.m. December 14, 2016 at Prairie Baptist Church, 7416 Roe Avenue, Prairie Village, Kansas. Masonic graveside service: 10:30 a.m. December 15, 2016 at Forest Park Cemetery, Joplin, Missouri. Arrangements: McGilley & Hoge Memorial Chapel, Overland Park, Kansas.
