John Ricks, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 8, 2016 at Baptist Hospital East in Louisville, KY surrounded by loving members of his family and friends.
He was born in Peking, China the son of the late Howard and Lydia Ricks of Shanghai, China.
John graduated from the University of California, Berkeley. After marrying Maxine in 1950, they moved to Japan and spent a lifetime raising his family and working overseas as a senior executive for several corporations.
John was a World War II Marine Corps veteran. He was also an avid clock enthusiast and dog lover.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of almost 60 years Maxine, his parents and his eldest son Jake Ricks.
Survivors include his children Ann Case, Thomas Ricks (Susan) and Peter Ricks (Sil); grandchildren Morgan Barker, Rusty Barker, Elizabeth Stimes, Andrew Ricks, Daniel Chung; great grandchildren Taylor, West and Elle Maxine.
His memorial service will be at 10:00 am, Monday, December 12, 2016 at St Francis in the Fields Episcopal Church, 6701 Wolf Pen Branch Road, Harrods Creek , KY. 40027
