Mark served as a Technician Fifth Grade, 172nd Infantry Regiment, 43rd Infantry Division, U.S. Army during World War II.

He resided in Chittenden County, Vermont & was a member of the Vermont National Guard prior to the war.

His National Guard unit was called into full time active Army service on February 24, 1941, prior to the war, from Burlington, Vermont. He was noted, at that time, as being Single, without dependents.

Mark "Died Of Wounds" received in action in the Solomon Islands during the war.

He was awarded the Purple Heart.
