Marie “Mam” Reed, age 84, of Payne Gap, Kentucky, passed away on December 8, 2016 at her daughter’s residence in Wise, Virginia. She was born on May 21, 1932 in Kona, Kentucky. Marie was a member of the Payne Gap Freewill Baptist Church and was very dedicated to her family, as well. Marie also enjoyed gardening and working in her flowers.
She was a daughter of the late Emmitt Kincer and Victoria Craft Kincer. She was also preceded in death by her husband of fifty years at his passing, James W. Reed; one brother, Walter Kincer; one sister-in-law, Billie Kincer; three sisters, Ella Newsome, Laverne Holbrook and Betty Ables.
She is survived by one daughter, Vickie Hall of Wise, Virginia; one granddaughter, Shellie (Sammy) Elswick of Payne Gap, Kentucky; one great granddaughter, Reanna Elswick of Payne Gap, Kentucky; two brothers-in-law, Charlie Holbrook of Payne Gap, Kentucky and Roy Ables of Trotwood, Ohio.
Marie is also survived by her little dog, Yappy; along with a host of other family and many friends.
Visitation for Mrs. Reed will be held on Saturday-December 10, 2016 and Sunday-December 11, 2016 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Polly & Craft Chapel in Jenkins, Kentucky; with Brother Hollis Bevins and Brother Luther Belcher officiating. Funeral service will be conducted on Monday-December 12, 2016 from the Chapel at 1:00 PM. Burial will follow in the Laurel Fork Cemetery at Payne Gap, Kentucky.
