Shirley (Womersley) Chafin Naylor
Jul 6, 1930 - Nov 20, 2016

Shirley Chafin Naylor passed away on November 20th, 2016. She was loved by all and will be remembered with great fondness.

Shirley Womersley was born on July 6, 1930.

She lived in Detroit, Michigan and her Dad, Harold had a radio shop. She and her family moved to Lake Worth, when she was 12 years old.

Her parents, Harold and Elizabeth, opened a television store on Dixie Hwy.

She and her brother, Hal, both graduated from Lake Worth High School. She swam and sang and was a great student and an avid seamstress.

She met Paul Chafin at the University of Miami and they were married when he graduated.

He enlisted in the Air Force and they lived on the base as he traveled with the Air Force Band’s “Airman of Note”.

She was married to Paul for 20 years and had five children:

1. Jeff (Sue)- grandsons, Jesse (Krista) and Chris (Natalie) Chafin;

2. Julie (Mike)-grandchildren, Jenni (Brooks) Price, Kate (James) Huether and Seumus Hardman;

3, Cathy Edmonds (Steve)-grandchildren, Paul(Candace) and Caroline (Nick) Edmonds,

4. Dave Chafin- grandchildren, Tatum and Bradley Chafin; and

Pam Carpenter (Charlie)- grandsons, Bryan and Christopher.

She was overjoyed with the birth of her two great-grandsons in the last few years. Jenni and Brooks Price have Parker (2 ½) and Paul and Candace Edmonds have Harvey (21 months).

She found love again in retired Air Force Colonel, Robert Naylor and the two families joined together.

He was the love of her life and she traveled extensively with him. They fished in Alaska, went on safari in Africa, visited the Orient and there are many stories of their Thailand vacation!!

She is survived on the Naylor side by son Bob (Marlene) Naylor, grandchildren Robbie (Emily) Naylor and great granddaughter, Brooklyn, Tim(Lori) Patterson and great granddaughters, Kaylan and Kady, Jill (Chris) Ward and great grandchildren, Stephen and Grace, daughter Helen Naylor Boram, grand children Kimberly Anderson (JT), great grandson Christopher, Amy (Brad)Wilson, grandchildren Sam Dobbs, Kara and Bryce Wilson and son Richard Naylor (Fran) grandchildren, Ellie (Neil) Prophet and grandsons, William and Andrew, Melanie (Jason) Oehlke and great grandchildren, Jameson and Destiny.

Shirley was a member of the Lake Worth Tuesday Bridge Ladies who have played together for years, they all went to high school together and have stayed wonderful friends. She was an avid bridge player and played often when she moved to the Carlisle Independent Living Facility in Lantana.

She had a fabulous group of ladies who dined together nightly and they all loved her very much. She taught us all perseverance and integrity. She lived with pain, but did her very best to keep joy in her heart. She loved her family and has Jesus as her Savior. We know that she is resting now in His Loving Embrace. She will leave a void in our lives like no other could.

Services will be held at St. Andrews Episcopal Church on Saturday, November 26th at 2 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the St. Andrews Episcopal Church. She was a member there for many years.
