Her favorite teachers were Elihue Anderson and Arthur Counts who counseled her to stay in school when she considered quitting due to health problems in the family.

After working approximately three years in her parents grocery store and restaurant, she met and married Harlin Ball who was at the time being discharged from the US Army.

She is survived by her children, Clayton Ancil Ball, Janet Marie Board (Timothy), Sheila Carol Devins (Walter) and Harlin Michael Ball (Ann Tonnette), four grandchildren, James Timothy Board, Joshua Andrew Board, Walter James Devins and Iris Alexa Devins and four great grandchildren.

In 1984, after her husband passed away, she started collecting poetry she had been writing to compile into a booklet and she printed about 1000 copies for her friends.

While living in Maryland, she worked as a secretary at Aberdeen Proving Grounds and then later worked at Thee Kings Bible Bookstore in Titusville, Florida.
