Amos Smith

Funeral services for Amos F. Smith, 63, of 318 S. 19th St., will be held at 1:30 pm Thursday at Myers Chapel, with Dr. Clyde Funkhouser officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Gardens.
Friends may call at the funeral chapel after 5 pm Wednesday.
Mr. Smith died at his home Sunday. He was born in Mt. Vernon on March 17, 1910, the son of James and Mary Caroline (Dare) Smith He was married to Wilma Donaldson, who survives.
Mr. Smith was retired, after owning and operating the Amos F. Smith Trucking Company for 25 years.
He was a member of the First United Methodist church. Mr. Smith was a member of the Moose and Kiwanis clubs, and was active in the Rend Lake Association. He also was a member of the Mt. Vernon Sewer Commission.
In addition to his wife, Wilma, Mr. Smith is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Caroline Kelly, San Pedro, Calif.; two sons, Richard Smith, Oklahoma City, Okla., and Deon Smith, Titusville, Fla.; seven grandchildren; a brother, Glenn Smith, Mt. Vernon; and a sister, Mrs. Clarence McCauley, Mt. Vernon.
He was preceded in death by a son, Randy Smith, a sister and a brother.
