Matthew Grover was the seventh son of Thomas Grover of Buckinghamshire, England, who first came to the Boston area and later settled in Charlestown and Malden, Massachusetts and Elizabeth Smith, who was born in Charlestown, Massachusetts. Matthew was born in 1655 in Boston and died in Malden in 1679. He married Mary Davis, daughter of George Davis and Sarah Clark. Their children were; i. THOMAS GROVER, b. January 16, 1674/75, Boston, Stoneham, Ma; d. 1739, Stoneham, Middlesex,
Massachusetts.
ii. MATTHEW GROVER, b. October 14, 1677, Reading, Massachusetts,; d. May 05, 1765, Coventry,
Connecticut.
iii. SARAH GROVER.
