NORTH LIBERTY - Cleora E. Kurzhal, 85, of Pensacola, FL, formerly of North Liberty, went home to be with the Lord on December 4, 2016, passing away at her daughter's home in Florida after a courageous battle with Alzheimer's.

She was born on April 30, 1931, to the late Aaron and Carrie Arnold. On May 28, 1949, she married Harry Kurzhal, Jr.

Survivors are daughter, Jackie S. Butler of Pensacola, FL, and a son, Jerry A. (Sherry) Kurzhal of South Bend, IN. Also surviving are three grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren, whom she loved and cherished.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry in 2004, her brothers, Royce Arnold, Merlin Arnold, Howard (Cap) Arnold, and her son-in-law, Roy Butler.

Cleora retired in 1991 from American Electric Power Company in the Human Resources Department. She worked at Indiana Vocational Technical College prior to working at AEP. She also worked as a secretary at the North Liberty Elementary School and was a member of the North Liberty Homemakers Club.

Cleora was well-known for her caring and generous spirit as well as a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She will not only be missed by her loving family, she will be missed by her church family and all who knew her.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 10th, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Hanley and Sons Funeral Home “Southwest Chapel,” located at State Road 23/W. Ireland Road, South Bend. Funeral services will follow immediately after visitation at 12:00 PM, with Pastor Trenton Prieshoff officiating. The final resting place will be at Sumption Prairie Cemetery, South Bend.

The family request memorial contributions be made to The Alzheimer's Foundation of America, 322 Eighth Ave., 7th fl., New York, NY 10001.
