Carolyn Sue Stover, of South Beloit, Illinois, passed away on December 6, 2016 at Rockford Memorial Hospital in Rockford, Illinois. Sue was born on February 26, 1938 in Centralia, Illinois, the daughter of George and Goldia Chambers. She graduated from Centralia High School and Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, Illinois. Sue married Orville "Butch" Stover on November 27, 1953 in Mount Vernon, Illinois. After graduating from college, Sue went to work as a buyer for Marshall Field’s Department Store in Chicago, Illinois. After living in Chicago for several years Sue and Buck moved to New York and she went to work as a buyer at Gimbels Department Store in Manhattan. After working and living for several years in New York, Sue and Buck moved to South Beloit, Illinois and she worked as a buyer at Weise' Department Store in Rockford, Illinois until retiring in 1979. Sue enjoyed spending her retirement knitting, rug hooking, traveling, and going out to eat with Buck and their friends. Sue is survived by her husband, Orville Stover of South Beloit, Illinois, along with several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother, George, and a sister, Doris. At Sue's request no public services will be held. Her remains will be buried at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, Missouri.
