Janet Lee Wilhelm, 79, of rural Tecumseh, passed away December 7, 2016 at the Johnson County Hospital in Tecumseh, Nebraska.

She was born to Orlando and Mattie (Baker) Parsons on November 23, 1937 in Georgetown, Delaware. She grew up in Georgetown and attended school in Georgetown, Delaware.

She met her future husband, Gary, while he was in the service stationed in Delaware. Gary sent her a ring and a plane ticket to her in the mail.

She was united in marriage to Paul Gary Wilhelm on April 2, 1961 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Tecumseh, Nebraska with Pastor Girken officiating. To this union two daughters were born, Annette and Teresa.

They made their home east of Tecumseh where they raised their family.

After their marriage, Janet became a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Tecumseh.

Gary and Janet celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary.

Janet was a housewife and mother.

She also enjoyed camping, soap operas, watching softball and drinking Diet Pepsi.

She is survived by her husband, Gary Wilhelm of rural Tecumseh, daughters, Annette Wilhelm of Omaha and Teresa Cecil of LaVista, grandchildren, Logan Cecil and special friend Deidra Brazzle and Taylor Cecil and special friend Spencer Jones, sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Rosie and Duane Sugden of Sterling, niece, Christi Etheridge and husband Jeff and children, Ryan and Alex and nephew, Tim Sugden.

Janet was preceded in death by her parents.

Memorial services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, December 11, 2016 at the St. John's Lutheran Church in Tecumseh, Nebraska with Rev. Jason Wolter officiating.

Visitation will be at the Wherry Mortuary in Tecumseh, Nebraska, Saturday, December 10, 2016 from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., with family greeting friends from 2-4 p.m.

Inurnment will be in the Spring Creek Cemetery, northeast of Tecumseh, Nebraska.
