He resided in Hartford County, Connecticut prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army Air Corps on January 15, 1942 in Hartford, Connecticut. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed as an Office Clerk and also as Single, without dependents.

AT-7 #42-43505 took off from San Marcos Army Air Force Base, San Marcos, Texas on a training flight. The AT-7 crashed, for an unknown reason, 2 miles south of Pine Valley, Oklahoma during the war.

Jan died in the "Line Of Duty" in this crash.
