"Funeral services for Kathryn J. Proper, 73, of Venango Manor, will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Huff Chapel. The Rev. Jeff Harmeling of the Rocky Grove Avenue Presbyterian Church will officiate.
Interment will follow at the Franklin Cemetery.
Mrs. Proper, who died at 9:15 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 28, in Venango Manor, was born Sept. 16, 1916, in Franklin, she was a daughter of the late Lee Verne and Clara DeLong Snyder.
She had been employed for a time at Talon in Meadville, and then for several years as a clerk at the G.C. Murphy Store in Franklin.
Mrs. Proper was a member of the Rocky Grove Avenue Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed sewing.
She married Oren E. Proper on Dec. 1, 1962 and he died Nov. 12, 1979.
She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Sam (Frances) York of Harrisville RD and Mrs. Robin (K. Louise) Miller of West Jordan, Utah; a son, Daniel Lee Hilliard of St. Petersburg, Fla.; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two stepsons, Oren E. Proper Jr. of Oil City and Richard A. Proper of Franklin; three step-daughters, Mrs. Edwin (Naomi) Fuchs of Polk, Mrs. Donna Jean Justice and Ila Mae Proper, both of Torrance, Calif.; 20 step-grandchildren; and several step-great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are a sister, Mrs. Wilbert (Lillian) Carson of Wyattville; and a brother, Herbert W. Snyder of Cooperstown.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Edwin S. Snyder and Leighton V. Snyder; and a stepson, Howard M. Proper.
Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the Huff chapel.
