James proudly served in the US Army during the Korean War and returned home following his honorable discharge. On March 9th 1952, James married his wife of over 64 years, Jane R. (Trudell) Cottrell. The couple resided in Scotia, N.Y. and James took employment as a technician with KAPL and enjoyed a long career until his retirement in 1992.
He was previously active in Boy Scouts Troop 56 and was a devoted member of the Burnt Hills Baptist Church. He was currently serving as the church's benevolent treasurer. In his free time, James enjoyed fly fishing, cooking, reading and an occasional crossword puzzle.
In addition to his parents, James was predeceased by a sister, Janet Cottrell.
